Laser can be used to treat some concerns caused by pigmentation and by visible vessels beneath the skin.
A consultation is required first. Pigmentation of different types can look alike and responds differently, and the wrong setting can darken it, so the type is identified and your skin type assessed before any treatment is discussed.
Pigmentation
Freckles, sun-related pigmentation and melasma are assessed individually. Pigmentation is generally reduced rather than removed, some types recur, and the response varies between individuals.
Visible vessels
Capillaries, redness and spider veins are assessed at consultation. Whether treatment is appropriate depends on the type of vessel and your medical history.
Laser and skin treatments carry risks, including redness, swelling, blistering, burns, scarring and changes in pigmentation. The risks that apply to your skin type are discussed with you at consultation.
Important information
A clinical consultation is required before treatment. Your practitioner will assess your concerns, relevant medical history, treatment suitability and available options. Potential risks, limitations, expected recovery and realistic treatment outcomes are also discussed as part of the informed consent process.
Treatment is not suitable for everyone. Suitability and outcomes vary between individuals.
